Job summary

Infosys in Chennai invites engineering professionals to join the Engineering Services team to design and develop tooling fixtures for heavy engineering applications. You will create innovative fixture concepts, ensure manufacturability and safety, perform weld modeling and fixture validation, and prepare detailed 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in collaboration with manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering qualifications with emphasis on mechanical design.
• Experience in fixture concept development and manufacturability considerations.
• Familiarity with GDT and tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tooling fixtures, welding fixtures, and fabrication fixtures for heavy engineering applications
• Create innovative fixture concepts ensuring manufacturability, safety, and cost efficiency
• Perform weld modeling and fixture validation based on engineering requirements
• Interpret and apply GDT (Geometric Dimensioning Tolerancing) for robust design outputs
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to support fabrication and assembly processes
• Prepare detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs
• Participate in design reviews and implement continuous improvements
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, tolerances, and production requirements

Additional Responsibilities

• Experience in DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing Assembly)
• Exposure to shop floor implementation and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of simulation or validation tools
• Exposure to Heavy Engineering / Manufacturing Industry
• Experience in fabrication, welding processes, and assembly setups
• Knowledge of material behavior, welding distortions, and fixture corrections

Technical and Professional Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in: Tooling fixture design
• Welding fixtures weld modeling
