Job summary

Tata Technologies in Pune seeks a BIW Fixture design engineer with 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in designing and detailing spot welding and MIG welding fixtures (automated and manual). The role covers concept design of clamps, pins, slides and dumps, and involves exposure to welding lines processes and GD&T drawings.

You will develop 2D drawings and BOM, perform basic calculations, and work with tolerances and materials.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in designing and detailing spot welding and MIG welding fixtures (automated and manual).
• Exposure to welding lines processes and layouts including spot welding and arc welding.
• Knowledge of tolerances, materials, and reading GD&T drawings.
• Experience working with BIW welding fixtures across OEMs would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Concept design of clamps, pins, stationary and retractable, slides and dumps.
• Create 2D manufacturing drawings and BOM; perform basic engineering calculations to verify design integrity.
• Read and interpret GD&T drawings; ensure design meets tolerance and material specs.
• Design BIW welding fixtures and contribute to manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Engage in technical reviews with customers and understand multi-CAD environments.

Job Description -

Concept Design (Design clamps, pin units stationary as well as retractable, slides and dumps)

• Exposure to Welding Lines Process & Layout (Spot Welding, ARC welding)
• Performs basic engineering calculations to verify design integrity - Create 2D manufacturing drawings and BOM
• Knowledge of tolerances and materials
• Read and understand GD&T drawings
• Design experience in BIW welding fixtures
• Good knowledge of manufacturing and assembly process
• Experience in working on various OEMs like GM, VW, BMW, FORD, DAIMLER etc.,
• Experience in conducting Technical Review with customer
• Exposure to multiple CAD tools will be an added advantage
• Experience in Teamcenter will be added advantage
