Job summary

SSS Defence in India is seeking an experienced CNC Setter Cum Operator to independently handle CNC machine setting, tool setting, program loading, and first-piece inspection. You will work on CNC Turning / Lathe machines, read engineering drawings, set tools and offsets, and ensure dimensional accuracy while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires 2–5 years of relevant experience, with walk-in interviews on Sep 21, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in Machinist/Turner or related trade.
• 2–5 years of CNC setter/cum operator experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
• Proficient in G-code and M-code, tool offsets, and work offsets.
• Knowledge of 5S and industrial safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Turning / CNC Lathe machines as required.
• Load programs, perform tool setting and offset corrections.
• Carry out first-piece inspection and ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Measure components with Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge.
• Maintain 5S, safety, and report issues to supervisor.
• Record production, inspection, rejection and tool-change details.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced CNC Setter Cum Operator who can independently handle CNC machine setting and operation, including tool setting, offset correction, program loading, first-piece inspection, and production machining.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Turning / CNC Lathe machines as per production requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and component specifications.
• Perform machine setup, job loading, chucking, and fixture setting.
• Set cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, and work-holding fixtures.
• Load and verify CNC programs in the machine control.
• Understand and perform basic G-Code and M-Code corrections.
• Perform tool offset and work offset adjustments.
• Carry out first-piece inspection and ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Measure components using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, etc.
• Monitor tool wear and replace tools/inserts when required.
• Optimize basic cutting parameters where required.
• Identify machining defects and take necessary corrective action.
• Achieve daily production and quality targets.
• Maintain machine cleanliness, 5S, and workplace safety.
• Record production, inspection, rejection, and tool-change details.
• Report machine breakdowns, quality issues, and other abnormalities to the supervisor.
• Follow SOPs, work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience in CNC Turning / CNC Lathe setting and operation.
• Good knowledge of CNC machine setup and tooling.
• Knowledge of G-Codes, M-Codes, tool offsets, and work offsets.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of tolerances, fits, surface finish, and machining symbols.
• Good knowledge of measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, and machining parameters.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and offset corrections.
• Knowledge of 5S and industrial safety practices.

Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Machinist, Turner, Mechanical, or related trade.
• 25 years of relevant CNC Setter Cum Operator experience.
