Job summary

Isgec Heavy Engineering in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, seeks an experienced CNC Operator / Machinist to set up and run CNC lathe and VMC machines, read engineering drawings, and ensure components meet exact dimensions. The role requires 2 to 8 years in heavy manufacturing, familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens or Mitsubishi controls, and a disciplined approach to 5S, safety, and quality.

Qualifications

  • ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production or relevant trade.
  • 2 to 8 years of CNC operator experience.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC machines in manufacturing, heavy engineering.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of measuring instruments and basic inspection methods.
  • Experience with Fanuc/Siemens/Mitsubishi controls is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines such as CNC Lathe, VMC or other CNC machining equipment.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, machining drawings, dimensions, tolerances and GD&T.
  • Set up machines, including job setting, tool setting, workpiece loading and offset correction.
  • Perform basic CNC program loading, editing and parameter adjustments as required.
  • Select and install cutting tools, inserts and fixtures.
  • Monitor machining operations and ensure components are produced as per specified dimensions and quality standards.
  • Conduct in-process inspection using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge and other measuring instruments.
  • Identify machining defects such as dimensional variation, surface finish issues, tool wear and burrs and take corrective action.
  • Perform tool changes and compensate for tool wear to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and follow 5S, safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Minimize machine downtime, tool consumption and rejection/rework.
  • Maintain production and inspection records as required.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance and Tool Room teams for smooth operations.
  • Follow company SOPs, work instructions and safety procedures.

Job description

Candidate Profile
  • Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production or relevant technical trade.
  • Experience: 2 to 8 years of relevant experience as a CNC Operator / CNC Machinist.
  • Hands-on experience in operating CNC machines in a manufacturing, machining or heavy engineering environment.
  • Good knowledge of CNC machine operation, tool setting and offset correction.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and machining tolerances.
  • Knowledge of measuring instruments and basic inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with experience in heavy engineering, fabrication, casting or large-component machining will be preferred.
