The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Cargo Sales Officer to build and grow our cargo business to the Maldives, working closely with Maldivian Cargo and partner airlines/shipping lines. This is a role for someone who enjoys being in the market—meeting customers, making calls, negotiating, pricing shipments, and closing business. You will have full backing from HQ and the freedom to run your lane like an owner.
What You’ll Do
- Win new customers and grow existing accounts for Maldives-bound cargo (air and sea)
- Sell air cargo solutions for perishables and general cargo, and sea freight where suitable
- Travel to meet customers across South India (field role)—full travel allowances provided
- Speak directly with Maldivian customers/agents/partners and convert opportunities
- Prepare pricing independently and negotiate confidently, with margin responsibility
- Coordinate with Maldivian Cargo, airlines/shipping lines, and operations to ensure smooth execution
- Maintain disciplined follow-ups, pipeline updates, and customer communication through CRM/ERP tools
What We Expect (Non‑Negotiable Traits)
- Phone‑first sales mindset: you should be comfortable picking up the phone, calling decision‑makers, and driving conversations to closure.
- Strong follow‑up discipline—no dropped leads, no “I messaged them” excuses.
- Ownership mindset: if the shipment is stuck, you push until it moves.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in cargo sales OR cargo operations with strong commercial capability.
- Familiarity with Maldives cargo movement is a major advantage.
- Strong understanding of air cargo basics: chargeable weight, pricing structure, routings, cut‑offs, documentation.
- Confidence dealing with overseas customers over calls/email.
- Ability to price shipments independently and defend margins.
Why This Role Is Worth It
- Good remuneration + strong incentives.
- Clear targets and transparent performance tracking (no ambiguity, no shifting goalposts).
- Full support from HQ and operations—sales is not left hanging.
- High‑visibility role with direct access to leadership.
- Strong market exposure through travel and customer meetings.
How You’ll Be Measured
- New customers acquired and revenue generated.
- Enquiry‑to‑shipment conversion and repeat business.
- Pricing discipline and margin performance.
- Quality of coordination and customer satisfaction.
In Our Eyes, An Ideal Candidate
- Confident using CRM systems to manage leads, track follow‑ups, and maintain a clean sales pipeline.
- Uses AI tools to draft clear customer emails, proposals, follow‑ups, and call summaries.
- Is comfortable working with pricing sheets, spreadsheets, and digital dashboards.
- Understands that disciplined tracking and documentation directly improve sales performance.
- Has a phone‑first mindset and is comfortable initiating conversations with customers and decision‑makers.
Before You Apply
If you’re not comfortable traveling, calling customers, negotiating, and being accountable for results, this role will not suit you.
If you want a role where performance is visible, supported, and rewarded—this is it.
Skills: negotiation skills, sales, customer.
