Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end CAPEX procurement for pharma manufacturing and infra projects.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for plant machinery and capital assets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors for CAPEX requirements.
  • Issue RFQs, analyze quotations, and prepare comparative statements.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Coordinate with engineering, projects, production, QA, finance, stores, and others.
  • Ensure timely PO placement and monitor schedules for manufacturing and delivery.
  • Review terms, payment conditions, timelines, warranties, and contracts.
  • Monitor budgets and support cost optimization initiatives.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and source alternatives.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and audit requirements.
  • Track procurement status and update on critical CAPEX items.
  • Support vendor performance evaluation and issue resolution.
  • Maintain procurement records, MIS, and CAPEX docs.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end CAPEX procurement and purchase activities for pharmaceutical manufacturing and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for plant machinery, production equipment, utilities, engineering equipment, and other capital assets.
  • Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage vendors for CAPEX requirements.
  • Float RFQs, obtain and analyze technical/commercial quotations, and prepare comparative statements.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Projects, Production, QA, Finance, Stores, and other internal stakeholders for CAPEX procurement requirements.
  • Ensure timely placement of purchase orders and follow up with vendors for manufacturing, dispatch, installation, and delivery schedules.
  • Review commercial terms, payment conditions, delivery timelines, warranties, and other contractual requirements.
  • Monitor procurement budgets and support cost optimization and savings initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and identify alternate sources wherever required.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, approval processes, documentation, and audit requirements.
  • Track procurement status and provide regular updates on critical CAPEX items and project timelines.
  • Support vendor performance evaluation and resolution of commercial or delivery-related issues.
  • Maintain appropriate procurement records, MIS, and CAPEX purchase documentation.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in CAPEX procurement/purchase, preferably within the pharmaceutical, chemical, API, formulation, or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong experience in capital equipment and project procurement.
  • Hands-on experience in vendor development, RFQ management, techno-commercial evaluation, negotiations, and PO execution.
  • Good understanding of engineering and manufacturing equipment procurement.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple CAPEX procurement requirements and project timelines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/SAP procurement modules is preferred.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
