Job description
Role: Vehicle / Body CFD Simulation & Evaluation
Responsibilities:
Prepare full vehicle CFD models using HYPERMESH and Star CCM+: rigid body meshing (Triad meshing), corrections in UG/NX & HM, creating air-leak proof assembly in Star CCM+ and boundary condition settings.
Perform full vehicle CFD simulations using Star CCM+. Develop vehicle aerodynamic drag (CdA) performance analysis using CAE.
Interpret CFD results in Star CCM+, identify drag/turbulence zones and provide directions for countermeasures. Conduct parameter studies on the CFD/FVM model for performance improvements.
Coordinate with wind tunnel testing agency for test execution, analyze results, correlate CFD results, and propose improvements in CFD methodology.
Prepare reports and communicate with design and testing teams for implementation of countermeasures.
Technical / Functional:
Software knowledge: Hypermesh, UG-NX, Star CCM+.
Strong fundamentals: Fluid Mechanics, Thermal and CFD methods.
Knowledge of automotive aerodynamics and statistical data analysis.
Experience in automotive aerodynamics and CFD evaluation: meshing in Hypermesh and full-vehicle simulations in Star CCM+.
Ability to debug CFD models / Star CCM+ errors independently.
Exposure to wind tunnel test facilities, instrumentation, testing procedures and basic understanding of road load, CO2 & CAFÉ regulatory procedures.
Experience interpreting CFD results, post-processing, and preparing comprehensive analysis reports with countermeasure proposals to meet performance targets.
Exposure to aerodynamic and aeroacoustic aspects of vehicle design is desirable.
