Job summary

Intelizign Lifecycle Services in Chennai is seeking a CAD Design & GD&T Engineer - Design, Prototype with 3–6 years of experience to join our design team. The role focuses on 2D/3D plant floor layouts, GD&T application, drafting, and tooling for cobots and automation.

You will work with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, and AutoCAD, release drawings via PLM systems, and collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure accurate design intent and manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • Develop 2D/3D plant floor layouts with cobots, conveyors, fixtures, safety fencing and workstations (layout design).
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, AutoCAD) for drawing creation.
  • EOAT design: design grippers, vacuum tooling and fixtures for cobot end-effectors.
  • Drafting: create detailed 2D drawings from 3D CAD models and ensure they follow standards.
  • Release and manage drawing revisions through PLM/PDM systems.
  • GD&T: apply symbols and callouts per ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101.
  • Review supplier drawings for GD&T correctness and conformance.
  • Support tolerance allocation discussions with design and manufacturing teams.
  • Cross-Functional Support with design, manufacturing and quality teams to reflect design intent.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, tolerancing practices and datum structures.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex assembly drawings.
  • Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to navigate a large organization and communicate technical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Layout Design: Develop 2D/3D plant floor layouts integrating cobots, conveyors, fixtures, safety fencing and operator workstations.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, AutoCAD) for drawing creation.
  • EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling) Design: Design custom grippers, vacuum tooling and fixtures for cobot/robot end-effectors.
  • Drafting: Create detailed 2D engineering drawings (part drawings, assembly drawings, sub-assembly drawings) from 3D CAD models.
  • Release and manage drawing revisions through PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter, AWC, NX, etc.).
  • GD&T: Apply GD&T symbols and callouts per ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101 standards.
  • Review supplier/vendor drawings for GD&T correctness and compliance with design intent.
  • Support tolerance allocation discussions with design and manufacturing teams to balance cost vs. precision.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers and quality teams to ensure drawings reflect accurate design intent.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, tolerancing practices and datum structures.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex assembly drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis (1D/2D/3D) (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate a large, complex organization and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Role & responsibilities
  • Layout Design: Develop 2D/3D plant floor layouts integrating cobots, conveyors, fixtures, safety fencing and operator workstations.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, AutoCAD) for drawing creation.
  • EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling) Design: Design custom grippers, vacuum tooling and fixtures for cobot/robot end-effectors based on part geometry, weight and process requirements (pick-and-place, welding, dispensing, assembly).
  • Drafting: Create detailed 2D engineering drawings (part drawings, assembly drawings, sub-assembly drawings) from 3D CAD models.
