About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and results-oriented Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our Architecture & Interior Design firm.
The candidate will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, developing client relationships, managing leads and converting enquiries into projects.
The role involves working closely with the Principal Architect, Interior Designers, Design Team, Marketing and PR Team to understand client requirements, present the firm's capabilities and take projects from the initial enquiry stage through to closure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for Architecture and Interior Design projects.
- Generate leads through networking, referrals, online platforms, social media, exhibitions, events and industry contacts.
- Develop relationships with HNI/UHNI clients, developers, corporates, hospitality brands, industrial clients and commercial clients.
- Research and identify potential clients and upcoming projects.
- Maintain an updated database of prospects and business contacts.
2. Client Relationship Management
- Handle incoming enquiries and understand the client's project requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
- Schedule and coordinate initial discussions, site visits and meetings.
- Regularly follow up with prospects and maintain communication throughout the sales cycle.
- Understand client expectations, budget, timeline and project scope.
3. Project Acquisition & Conversion
- Present the firm's architecture, interior design and related services to prospective clients.
- Coordinate with the Principal Architect/Design Team for client presentations and meetings.
- Prepare and coordinate proposals, fee quotations and presentations.
- Follow up on proposals and commercial discussions.
- Negotiate professionally with clients while maintaining the firm's positioning and commercial requirements.
- Track leads from enquiry meeting proposal negotiation closure.
4. Networking & Partnerships
- Build a strong network within the real estate, construction, architecture, interior, hospitality and corporate sectors.
- Develop relationships with developers, contractors, consultants, real estate professionals and other industry stakeholders.
- Attend networking events, exhibitions, conferences and industry meetings.
- Explore strategic collaborations and referral opportunities.
5. Coordination with Internal Teams
- Coordinate with the Principal Architect, Interior Designers and Design Team regarding project requirements.
- Ensure the design team receives accurate information about the client's requirements.
- Coordinate client meetings, presentations and site visits.
- Follow up internally on proposals and project-related requirements.
- Maintain clear communication between the client and internal team during the business development stage.
6. CRM & Reporting
- Maintain an updated lead and client database/CRM.
- Track all enquiries, follow-ups, meetings, proposals and conversions.
- Prepare regular business development reports.
- Monitor the status of all active leads and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Analyse lead sources and identify potential areas for business growth.
Key Skills Required
- 26 years of experience in Business Development / Sales / Client Acquisition.
- Experience in Interior Design, Architecture, Real Estate, Construction, Furniture, Luxury or Lifestyle industry will be preferred.
- Strong client communication and relationship-management skills.
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
- Strong follow-up and conversion skills.
- Good understanding of the sales/business development cycle.
- Strong networking and lead-generation abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable interacting with HNI/UHNI clients, corporate clients and senior decision-makers.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace and CRM tools.
- Ability to prepare basic presentations, proposals and client communication.
