ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced and highly responsible Cluster Manager to manage and develop the operations of three petrol pump outlets.
The person will be responsible for overall sales growth, staff management, customer development, operational discipline, stock control, cash management, safety, and profitability across all three outlets.
This is a hands‑on management position. The candidate should be capable of independently managing multiple outlets, motivating staff, identifying sales opportunities, solving operational problems, and reporting directly to management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. SALES DEVELOPMENT
- Take complete responsibility for increasing petrol and diesel sales across all three outlets.
- Set daily, weekly and monthly sales targets for each outlet.
- Monitor outlet-wise sales performance.
- Develop new commercial and fleet customers.
- Build relationships with transporters, companies, institutions, schools, construction companies and local businesses.
- Increase lubricant, premium fuel and other non-fuel sales.
- Develop corporate/fleet accounts and recurring customers.
- Analyse competitor pricing, service and customer offers.
- Plan and implement local marketing activities.
- Identify reasons for sales decline and immediately take corrective action.
- Achieve agreed monthly and annual sales targets.
2. STAFF MANAGEMENT
- Manage all employees across the three outlets.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate manpower.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality and discipline.
- Train staff in customer service and sales techniques.
- Conduct regular staff meetings.
- Set individual responsibilities and targets.
- Motivate employees and create a performance-oriented culture.
- Identify poor performers and take corrective action.
- Recommend recruitment, transfers, incentives and disciplinary action when required.
- Ensure staff follow company policies and outlet procedures.
3. DAILY OUTLET OPERATIONS
- Conduct regular inspections of all three outlets.
- Ensure the outlets are clean, organised and customer-friendly.
- Monitor customer service standards.
- Ensure proper functioning of dispensing equipment, POS systems and other facilities.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures.
- Check daily sales and operational reports.
- Identify operational problems and resolve them quickly.
4. STOCK & INVENTORY CONTROL
- Monitor petrol and diesel stock levels.
- Check daily stock reconciliation.
- Monitor tank readings and delivery quantities.
- Identify stock variances, shortages or unusual losses.
- Ensure proper lubricant and other inventory management.
- Coordinate with management for timely fuel ordering.
- Investigate abnormal stock variations immediately.
5. CASH & FINANCIAL CONTROL
- Monitor daily cash collections and deposits.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of cash, card, UPI and other payments.
- Monitor credit sales and outstanding customer payments.
- Ensure approved credit limits are followed.
- Identify financial irregularities and report them immediately.
- Maintain proper documentation and records.
6. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Personally interact with important customers and fleet customers.
- Resolve customer complaints quickly.
- Develop repeat and loyal customers.
- Monitor customer feedback.
- Improve overall customer experience at all outlets.
- Develop a database of important commercial customers.
7. SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Ensure strict compliance with petrol pump safety procedures.
- Ensure employees follow fire and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety inspections.
- Ensure fire extinguishers and safety equipment are maintained.
- Ensure statutory licences and required documents are maintained.
- Ensure no unsafe practices are followed at the outlets.
- Report accidents, incidents or safety violations immediately.
8. MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Develop local marketing campaigns for each outlet.
- Increase visibility of the outlets in surrounding areas.
- Promote loyalty programs, HP Pay and other applicable promotions.
- Develop partnerships with nearby businesses.
- Identify opportunities for additional revenue such as lubricants, coffee, convenience retail, EV charging, CNG and other services where applicable.
- Conduct competitor analysis every month.
9. REPORTING TO MANAGEMENT
The Cluster Manager must provide:

This is NOT a desk job.
The Cluster Manager is expected to regularly visit all three outlets, interact with staff and customers, monitor operations personally and take ownership of sales growth.
