Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of QS experience in construction/civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, procurement and commercial management.
  • Experience delivering projects from inception to final account.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • High commercial awareness with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while working with a team.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Office.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects.
  • Prepare, monitor and control project budgets and cost plans.
  • Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Prepare valuations, interim applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Assess, negotiate and agree subcontractor accounts and variations.
  • Procure subcontract packages and manage tendering processes.
  • Review contract documents and advise on commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Manage change control, variations and claims in line with contract requirements.
  • Monitor project performance against budget and identify cost improvement areas.
  • Liaise with clients, design teams, site management and subcontractors for effective commercial management.
  • Support project teams in achieving programme and financial objectives.
  • Mentor junior members of the commercial team and contribute to improvements.

Our client, an established main contractor in the construction sector is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects.
  • Prepare, monitor and control project budgets and cost plans.

Essential Requirements
  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction or civil engineering industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement and commercial management.
  • Experience managing projects from inception through to final account.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
