Job summary

CJK Engineering in Dublin is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to drive commercial success across multiple projects from tender to final accounts. You will handle on-site measurements, subcontractor packages, interim valuations, and cost control to optimise project profitability.

The role requires strong knowledge of contracts, Excel proficiency, and experience with estimating software. Based between the office and site, with a focus on collaboration and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of quantity surveying experience on mechanical or electrical projects.
  • Proficient in Excel and related spreadsheet analysis.
  • Knowledge of estimating software is an advantage.
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and QS role within construction.
  • Knowledge of contract conditions and their applications.
  • Experience with contractual claims such as delays or acceleration.

Responsibilities

  • On Site measurement of M&E Services.
  • Preparation of specialist sub-contract work packages.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations, and final accounts; ensure payment certificates processed and payments made per subcontract terms.
  • Tracking of commercial progress and labour hours on site.
  • Financial and contractual control of direct labour.
  • Preparation and issue of Interim Progress Valuations.
  • Preparing monthly Commercial Progress reports & Profit Plans for Project.
  • Review and analysis of Tenders versus Construction documentation.
  • Logging client change requests / variations.
  • Supporting Tender submissions and reviewing Procurement prices for construction works.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting.
  • Understanding scheduling implications and collaborating with Planning Engineer on progress reporting.
  • Costing and agreeing daily work changes including subcontractor remeasurement, dayworks and change orders.
  • Maintain accurate records and backup to support commercial tracking and costing.
  • Work on own initiative and prioritize without direction.
  • Speed and accuracy of information as a priority.
  • Negotiate, as necessary, with clients or their representatives.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Dublin. The successful candidate will be working across several projects from tender stage through to final accounts, encompassing all commercial and contractual duties during the project.

Duties / Responsibilities:


In conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:

  • On Site measurement of M&E Services.
  • Preparation of specialist sub-contract work packages.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations, and final accounts. Ensure payment certificates are processed and payments are made per the agreed sub-contract and procurement terms.
  • Tracking of commercial progress and labour hours (spent vs earned) on site.
  • Financial and contractual control of direct labour.
  • Preparation & issue of Interim Progress Valuations.
  • Preparing monthly Commercial Progress reports & Profit Plans for Project.
  • Review and analysis of Tenders versus Construction documentation.
  • Logging client change requests / variations.
  • Supporting Tender submissions and reviewing Procurement prices for construction works.
  • Ability to identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same.
  • Have a practical understanding of scheduling and the associated commercial implications. Ensure close collaboration with Planning Engineer regarding accuracy of progress reporting.
  • The M&E Quantity Surveyor will be capable of costing and agreeing daily work changes to include managing the subcontractor remeasurement of contract works, site dayworks and site change orders.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide necessary detailed backup to support commercial tracking and costing.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and can prioritise without direction.
  • Speed and accuracy of information a priority.
  • Negotiate, as necessary, with clients or their representatives.

Previous Experience / Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of Quantity surveying experience essential on Mechanical or Electrical Projects.
  • Proficient in excel.
  • Knowledge of Estimating Software an advantage.
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and QS Role within construction.
  • Knowledge of contract conditions and their applications.
  • Experience with contractual claims such as delays, acceleration, etc.
  • Overall understanding of the business, client and Sub Contractor relations, and installations.
  • Excellent Communication/Interpersonal Skills.
  • Excellent Record Keeping and Administration Skills
  • Full Time Position.
  • Salary depending on experience.
  • Position based between CJK Office & Site.
