Job summary

Intact Insurance is seeking a Senior Property & Liability Underwriter – New Business to grow and manage a portfolio across Property, Liability and SME. The role blends technical underwriting excellence with strong broker relationships to retain customers and deliver an exceptional experience.

You will work with the Dublin Trading Team to maintain underwriting discipline, drive profitable growth and operate within risk appetite and standards.

Qualifications

• Five years' relevant commercial insurance experience.
• CIP qualification or equivalent; progress towards MDI/ACII is advantageous.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge and risk assessment ability.
• Sound commercial judgement with focus on profitable growth, pricing and risk appetite.
• Proven ability to build productive broker, customer and internal stakeholder relationships.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Customer-driven mindset with solution-focused approach to queries and complaints.
• Collaborative and adaptable, with willingness to share knowledge and raise underwriting standards.
• High standards of integrity, governance and regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite for profitable growth within delegated authority and risk appetite.

• Maintain strong underwriting controls with audits and quality assurance.
• Use portfolio, market and broker insight to shape decisions and strategy.
• Collaborate across Underwriting, Distribution, Pricing, Claims and Risk to achieve outcomes.
• Build technical capability by coaching colleagues and raising standards.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve broker/customer experience.
