Job summary

Intact Insurance Ireland is seeking a Senior Property & Liability Underwriter – New Business to grow and manage a portfolio of Property, Liability and SME business. You will combine technical excellence with commercial judgement and strong broker relationships to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

You will work with the Dublin Trading Team to maintain underwriting discipline, operate within risk appetite, and drive growth while upholding governance and controls within a hybrid working

Qualifications

• At least five years' relevant commercial insurance experience across Property, Liability, SME or Commercial Combined.
• CIP qualified, or an equivalent recognised insurance qualification; progress towards MDI/ACII is advantageous.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge with ability to assess risk within delegated authority.
• Sound commercial judgement aligned with profitability, pricing and portfolio performance.
• Proven ability to build productive relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite for profitable growth within delegated authority, risk appetite and underwriting standards.
• Drive portfolio performance and manage risks to deliver retention and revenue growth.
• Win and develop broker relationships aligned with strategy and appetite.
• Deliver technical excellence with risk selection, pricing and clear rationale for decisions.
• Provide a customer-driven experience, manage queries and handle complaints within authority.
• Maintain strong underwriting controls and support audits and quality assurance.
• Use market, portfolio, claims and broker insight to shape risk decisions.
• Collaborate across Underwriting, Distribution, Pricing, Claims, Risk Management and Ops.
• Build technical capability by coaching colleagues and raising underwriting standards.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve broker/customer experience.
• Act with integrity, governance and regulatory awareness in all decisions.
