Job summary

Intact Insurance Ireland DAC in Dublin is seeking a Senior Property & Liability Underwriter for existing business. You will combine technical underwriting excellence with strong broker relationships to drive profitable growth and maintain risk discipline within delegated authority.

Working with colleagues across the Dublin Trading Team, you will manage a panel of risks, deliver strong retention and sustainable revenue, build trusted broker partnerships, and apply precise risk selection, pricing

Qualifications

• At least five years’ relevant commercial insurance experience.
• CIP qualified, or equivalent insurance qualification. Progress towards MDI, ACII or another relevant advanced qualification would be an advantage.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge, with ability to assess risk, set terms and make decisions within delegated authority.
• Sound commercial judgement, supported by understanding of profitable growth, pricing, risk appetite and portfolio performance.
• Proven ability to build productive relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, make timely decisions and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Customer-driven and solution-focused mindset, with confidence to manage queries and negotiations.
• Collaborative and adaptable approach, with willingness to share knowledge and raise underwriting standards.
• High standards of integrity, accountability, governance and regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite for profitable growth within delegated authority and risk appetite.

• Build trusted broker partnerships aligned with strategy and underwriting appetite.
• Apply consistent risk selection, pricing and underwriting judgement; maintain high-quality records.
• Understand broker and customer needs, deliver practical and sustainable solutions, and resolve queries within authority.
• Contribute to technical audits and quality assurance to support robust controls.
• Collaborate across Underwriting, Distribution, Pricing, Claims, Risk Management and Operations to deliver outcomes.
• Provide guidance and coaching to colleagues to raise underwriting standards.
