Job summary

Intact Insurance Ireland is seeking a Senior Property & Liability Underwriter – Existing Business to profitably grow and manage a Property, Liability and SME portfolio. You will work with Dublin-based teams, applying technical excellence and commercial judgement to maintain risk discipline and high service standards.

You will underwrite for profitable growth, develop broker relationships, and deliver customer-focused solutions while collaborating with Underwriting, Distribution, Pricing, Claims

Qualifications

• Five years' relevant commercial insurance experience.
• CIP qualified or equivalent; progress towards MDI/ACII a plus.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge and risk assessment ability.
• Solid commercial judgement for profitable growth and pricing decisions.
• Proven ability to build broker/customer/internal relationships.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite for profitable growth within delegated authority and risk appetite.
• Drive portfolio performance and manage risk to achieve retention and revenue targets.
• Win and develop broker relationships aligned with customer proposition and strategy.
• Apply risk selection, pricing and underwriting judgement with clear rationale for decisions.
• Provide customer-driven solutions and resolve queries within authority.
• Support portfolio governance with audits, peer reviews and quality assurance.
• Utilise portfolio, market, claims and broker insights to inform decisions.
• Collaborate across Underwriting, Distribution, Pricing, Claims, Risk Management and Operations to deliver outcomes.
• Mentor and raise underwriting standards within the team.
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen broker/customer experience.
