Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Lead Software Engineer to join the Commercial Connect API team in a hybrid role based in Sandyford, Dublin. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices that enable secure, scalable B2B payments.

You will collaborate with product managers, TPMs, and QA to deliver across the SDLC, apply modern DevOps practices, and drive performance, security, and reliability in high-traffic systems. Knowledge of AI-assisted tooling is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive backend experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven ability to design scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices.
• Collaborate with front-end teams and third-party integrations.
• Contribute to all SDLC phases including planning, coding, testing, and reviews.
• Mentor engineers, perform code reviews, and push for continuous improvement.
• Ensure security, reliability, and performance in high-traffic systems.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering to improve tooling and automation.
• Align technical work with business goals in an Agile environment.
