Job summary

Mastercard in Dublin's Sandyford hub seeks a Lead Software Engineer to drive the Commercial Connect API team. You'll design and deploy Java microservices, integrating with modern front-end frameworks and third-party apps, in a hybrid arrangement requiring three days onsite.

You will guide SDLC activities, mentor teammates, and ensure security, scalability, and performance for high-traffic B2B payments platforms. A strong background in cloud, CI/CD, and AI-assisted tooling is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend software engineering experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise with microservices design.
• Proven ability to design secure, scalable RESTful APIs for high-traffic systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficient in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and Agile methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices.
• Contribute to all phases of the SDLC including planning, coding, testing, reviews, and delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs, and test engineers to align goals.
• Perform code reviews, submit pull requests, and support continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and security standards.
• Optimize application performance and reliability for large-scale systems.
• Explore AI-assisted engineering opportunities across the SDLC, including code generation and test automation.
