Job summary

Mastercard in Ireland is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Commercial Connect API team. You will design, develop, and deploy Java microservices, integrating with modern front-ends and third-party apps. The role involves SDLC participation, code reviews, and optimizing for high-traffic systems.

Based in the Dublin area (Sandyford), this hybrid role requires three onsite days per week. You will work with Agile teams to standardize and automate digital payments within Mastercard's global B2B

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive backend experience with Java/Spring Boot in microservices.
• Secure, scalable microservices handling high traffic with RESTful APIs.
• Advanced SQL knowledge and cloud experience (AWS/Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, DevOps and Git.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of Java microservices.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technical and business goals.
• Participate in all SDLC phases: planning, coding, testing, reviews, delivery.
• Perform code reviews, pull requests, and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure security, operations, and architecture standards are met.
• Optimize performance and reliability for large-scale, high-traffic systems.
• Explore AI-assisted engineering opportunities across the SDLC.
