Job summary

Mastercard in Dublin's Sandyford hybrid hub is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, build and deploy Java microservices for the Commercial Connect API platform, interfacing with modern front-end frameworks and third-party applications.

You will own the SDLC from planning through delivery, collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs and test engineers to align technical and business goals, and ensure security, reliability and performance at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Extensive backend experience with Java and Spring Boot in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Proven expertise designing secure, scalable microservices for high-traffic systems.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL/Oracle and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git in Agile environments.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices that integrate with front-end frameworks and third-party apps.
• Drive all phases of the SDLC from planning through testing and delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs, and test engineers to align technical and business goals.
• Perform code reviews, manage PRs, and support continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to Mastercard engineering standards, security, and architecture guidelines.
• Optimize performance and reliability for large-scale, high-traffic systems.
• Explore AI-assisted engineering opportunities across the SDLC to boost productivity.
