Job summary

Mastercard Ireland is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Commercial Connect API team in our Dublin hub. This hybrid role focuses on designing, building, and deploying Java microservices powering B2B payments, collaborating with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions.

You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment, applying modern SDLC practices, CI/CD, and security standards, while mentoring engineers and shaping high-traffic financial applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on in cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of high-quality Java microservices.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs, and test engineers to align goals.
• Perform code reviews, submit pull requests, and support continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and security standards.
• Optimize application performance and reliability for large-scale systems.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering opportunities across the SDLC.
