Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Lead Software Engineer to join the Commercial Connect API team in Dublin. This role designs, builds, and deploys high-quality Java microservices in a hybrid setup, collaborating across engineering, product, and QA to align technical goals with business outcomes.

You will drive SDLC activities, enforce security and scalability standards, and contribute to AI-assisted development across the system. A strong background in microservices and cloud is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven expertise building secure, scalable microservices for high traffic.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL/Oracle databases and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and Agile delivery mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of Java microservices integrated with modern front-end frameworks.
• Guide all SDLC phases from planning to delivery with quality reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs, and testers to align goals.
• Perform code reviews, drive PRs, and support continuous improvement.
• Ensure security, operations, and architecture standards are met; optimize performance.
• Explore AI-assisted development opportunities across the SDLC.
