Job description

Our client, a well-established international insurance intermediary with a strong presence across the Irish market, is seeking to appoint a Senior Commercial Account Executive to join their team based in Portlaoise. Reporting to the Team Leader and Head of Existing Business, the successful candidate will take ownership of managing policy renewals, protecting client retention, and ensuring a consistently high standard of service across the portfolio. There will also be scope to identify and develop new business opportunities as they arise, so strong relationship management, negotiation and sales ability will be key to success in the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, ensuring their evolving needs are met
• Manage the renewal process end to end, including reviewing terms, negotiating with insurers, and ensuring timely completion
• Assess client risk profiles and provide informed advice on suitable products and coverage
• Deliver a high standard of client service, resolving queries efficiently and building long-term trust
• Work towards agreed new business and renewal targets
• Operate within the company's compliance framework and internal procedures, including new business and renewal documentation
• Stay current on market practice and product developments, feeding back to management on pricing, service and product trends
• Collaborate with colleagues across the wider group to support training, product development and operational efficiency
• Attend client visits alongside management as required
• Adhere to compliance requirements as set out in the company handbook and procedures manual

What's Required

• 3–5 years' experience in a commercial insurance role, ideally with exposure to a senior or portfolio-holding capacity
• Minimum APA Commercial (or Grandfathered Commercial), with up-to-date CPD
• Strong technical knowledge of the commercial insurance market
• Proven track record managing a client portfolio, particularly renewals and client servicing
• Confident negotiator, able to secure favourable outcomes for client and business alike
• Full clean driving licence
