Project: Active Travel Infrastructure Scheme
We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join a civil engineering project team delivering an Active Travel Infrastructure Scheme in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced civil engineer with a strong background in site supervision, infrastructure delivery and contract administration to take responsibility for the day-to-day engineering oversight of the works.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Resident Engineer on the project, overseeing the contractor's activities on site.
- Supervise and monitor the construction of the Active Travel infrastructure works.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with the drawings, specifications, contract requirements and agreed programme.
- Monitor workmanship, materials and construction quality.
- Carry out regular site inspections and maintain accurate site records.
- Monitor progress and report on programme, quality and construction issues.
- Identify potential problems on site, investigate issues and make recommendations for resolution.
- Review contractor submissions, method statements, RAMS and other technical documentation.
- Assist with contract administration, including assessment of contractor claims, payment applications and variations.
- Liaise with the Employer, contractor, design team, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate Health & Safety requirements are being followed on site.
- Prepare site reports, progress reports and other project documentation.
- Attend and contribute to site meetings and progress meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the wider project team to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering/Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
- Previous experience working as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer or similar site-based engineering role.
- Experience on civil infrastructure projects, preferably involving roads, active travel, public realm, drainage or associated infrastructure.
- 5+ years working under Public Works Contracts.
- Experience assisting with contract administration.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, site supervision and quality control.
- Good knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
- Current Safe Pass and relevant construction safety qualifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently on site and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards Chartered status would be advantageous.
