DB Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a residential development project in South Dublin. The role requires hands-on leadership on-site and a strong focus on safety, quality and programme delivery.

You will review designs, coordinate trades, manage documentation, and drive site meetings, with a proven track record in engineering environments and Level 8 qualification. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our team on a residential development project in South Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake and assist with the following duties:

  • Take ownership of Health & Safety management on the project.
  • Review and comment on design drawings, raising RFIs where required.
  • Actively participate in Design Team Meetings, ensuring ongoing review of design information and timely close-out of outstanding design issues.
  • Communicate the requirements of approved technical submittals to the relevant trade and finishing teams.
  • Understand and monitor the target delivery programme, provide weekly progress reporting, and proactively intervene to prevent delays.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and service providers to ensure testing and commissioning milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of work completed by subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with Building Regulations, approved design documentation, specifications and applicable standards.
  • Carry out continuous inspections of works on site, recording, raising and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Drive the implementation of the project's internal quality management system across the site team.
  • Ensure quality assurance procedures and policies are followed, taking the lead on technical submittals, benchmarks and inspection management.
  • Lead the implementation of the project document management system and ensure compliance with BCAR requirements.
  • Manage and control the benchmarking process.
  • Participate in scaffold inspections as directed by the Site Manager.
  • Coordinate site drawings and ensure site records, as-built information and quality assurance documentation are accurately maintained and kept up to date.
  • Manage specific works packages as delegated by the Project Manager or Site Manager, including:
  • Advising on the content of tender packages.
  • Understanding and managing the scope of contracted works.
  • Establishing and monitoring subcontractor programmes.
  • Ensuring timely ordering of materials where required.
  • Coordinating trades and resolving technical or operational roadblocks.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors to ensure delivery is on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead the implementation and management of Temporary Works procedures on the project.
  • Manage relationships and coordination with third-party stakeholders, including Irish Water, ESB and local authorities.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and drive efficiencies by constructively challenging design solutions.
  • Identify key stakeholders and support the Project Manager with early engagement, relationship building and ongoing stakeholder management.
  • Manage direct reports and members of the engineering team, providing leadership, coaching and mentoring as required.
  • Plan and monitor development plans for direct reports.
  • Chair site and construction team meetings where required.
  • Promote a high standard of customer service and stakeholder engagement throughout the project and act as a strong ambassador for the organisation.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have:
