Job summary

Ward Personnel is assisting a leading main contractor to recruit a Senior Site Engineer for a major residential development in Galway. The role offers autonomy on technical on-site delivery, with close collaboration alongside the Site/Project Manager, design team and subcontractors to ensure works are completed to programme.

You will review drawings, interpret specifications, raise RFIs, coordinate technical queries, mentor junior engineers, maintain accurate site records and ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience with a main contractor.
• Proven experience on residential/apartment schemes.
• Strong setting-out and dimensional control experience.
• Working knowledge of Irish building regulations and current residential compliance requirements.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or relevant setting-out software.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of setting out, levels, and dimensional control across the site.
• Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and technical details, raising RFIs where required.
• Coordinate directly with the design team, subcontractors, and site management on technical queries.
• Manage and mentor junior/graduate engineers on site.
• Ensure works are constructed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and current building regulations.
• Maintain accurate site records, as-built drawings, and quality control documentation.
• Support the Site Manager with programme sequencing and technical planning.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and site-specific safety statements.
• Liaise with building control and assigned certifiers as required on residential compliance matters.

Our client is a main contractor delivering a significant residential development in Galway. With a strong regional presence and an active pipeline of residential projects, they are looking to strengthen their site engineering team ahead of the next phase of works.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer will take a lead technical role on site, working closely with the Site/Project Manager, design team, and subcontractors to ensure the works are delivered accurately, safely, and to programme.

Requirements
