O'Connor Sutton Cronin seeks an experienced Resident Engineer to join a civil project team delivering a road reinstatement scheme in Kilcoon, Co. Leitrim.

Qualifications

  • Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering/Engineering.
  • Minimum 6 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Previous experience as a Resident Engineer, Site Engineer or similar on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong site-based experience in road, civil or infrastructure works.
  • Experience in road construction/reinstatement, drainage, earthworks or associated civil infrastructure would be highly advantageous.
  • 5+ years working under Public Works Contracts.
  • Experience assisting with contract administration.
  • Good knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Current Safe Pass and relevant Safety in Construction qualifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage site issues, assess information, report findings and make practical recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants and the wider project team.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards Chartered status would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor contractor activities and ensure works are undertaken in accordance with the contract, drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect completed and ongoing works to ensure the required quality standards are achieved.
  • Monitor construction progress against the programme.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate site records.
  • Identify construction issues and potential problems and work with the project team to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Review contractor method statements, RAMS and technical submissions.
  • Assist with contract administration, including payment applications, claims, variations and other contractual matters.
  • Liaise with the contractor, Employer, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor materials, workmanship and testing.
  • Ensure Health & Safety requirements are being adhered to throughout the works.
  • Prepare regular site and progress reports.
  • Attend site and project meetings.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations where required.
  • Support the project team through to successful completion of the works.
