Job summary

Linkedskills Expert Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for major civil and utility projects in Dublin. This permanent role focuses on commercial management, cost control and contractual governance across infrastructure works, reporting to project teams and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring a degree in Quantity Surveying, strong civil/infrastructure experience, and a track record in procurement, budgets and earned value analysis.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience in civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and Irish construction law.
  • Proven experience in commercial management and cost control.
  • Experience with subcontractor procurement and negotiation.
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and monthly reports.
  • Experience with earned value analysis.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work with commercial, operational, engineering and client teams.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for commercial and contractual management of civil projects.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, tender comparisons and negotiations.
  • Review subcontractor quotations and prepare recommendations.
  • Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
  • Manage variations, claims and contractual change.
  • Monitor expenditure, commitments and overall commercial performance.
  • Produce monthly commercial reports and project forecasts.
  • Complete earned value analysis and contribute to reporting.
  • Review contracts and identify commercial risks.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, site teams and clients.
  • Provide practical commercial advice throughout the lifecycle.
  • Identify cost efficiencies while protecting quality and safety.

Take Commercial Ownership of Major Infrastructure Projects We are hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering and utilities organisation delivering significant infrastructure projects across Ireland. This is a permanent Dublin-based opportunity for a commercially strong Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of project costs, contractual matters, subcontractor procurement, forecasting and commercial reporting. You will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, operational teams and subcontractors, providing the commercial control needed to deliver complex projects successfully. Applicants must currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Dublin.

Salary: €75,000€105,000 DOE

Your Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, tender comparisons and commercial negotiations.
  • Review subcontractor quotations and prepare commercial recommendations.
  • Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
  • Manage variations, claims and contractual change.
  • Monitor expenditure, commitments and overall commercial performance.
  • Produce accurate monthly commercial reports and project forecasts.
  • Complete earned value analysis and contribute to performance reporting.
  • Review contracts and identify potential commercial or contractual risks.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and supporting project documentation.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, site personnel, clients and subcontractors.
  • Provide practical commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Help project teams identify cost efficiencies while protecting quality, safety and contractual compliance.
What You Will Need
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and contractual administration.
  • A good working understanding of Irish construction law.
  • Proven experience in commercial management and project cost control.
  • Strong subcontractor procurement and negotiation experience.
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and monthly commercial reports.
  • Practical experience completing earned value analysis.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • The confidence to work effectively with commercial, operational, engineering and client teams.
Who This Position Will Suit

This opportunity is designed for a Quantity Surveyor who understands the commercial realities of delivering civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You should be comfortable challenging costs, managing contractual risk, negotiating with subcontractors and taking responsibility for accurate commercial reporting. This is not a residential or general building Quantity Surveying position. Candidates from those sectors must demonstrate substantial, directly relevant civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure experience.
