Quantity Surveyor Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

Linkedskills is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering and infrastructure background for a permanent position based in Dublin. This opportunity is suited to a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who has experience managing project costs, subcontractor procurement, contractual matters, reporting and commercial performance across civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, tendering and commercial negotiations.
• Assess subcontractor quotations and prepare recommendations.
• Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Manage variations, claims and change control.
• Monitor project costs and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare monthly commercial reports and forecasts.
• Carry out earned value analysis and support project performance reporting.
• Review contracts and identify commercial and contractual risks.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams, subcontractors and clients.
• Support project teams with commercial advice and cost-control measures.
• Ensure appropriate commercial records and project documentation are maintained.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts.
• Good understanding of Irish Construction Law.
• Extensive commercial management experience.
• Strong subcontractor procurement and negotiation experience.
• Experience preparing monthly commercial reports.
• Experience with earned value analysis.
• Strong cost-control, forecasting and reporting capability.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with operational, engineering and commercial teams.

Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will have a strong commercial background within civil engineering or infrastructure and will be comfortable taking responsibility for the commercial performance of projects. Candidates coming exclusively from residential or general building Quantity Surveying backgrounds may not be suitable unless they can demonstrate substantial relevant civil engineering or infrastructure experience.
