Job Title
Project Specification Manager- Exterior Solutions
Job Purpose
The Project Specification Manager is responsible for driving early-stage specification and project influence across key construction projects within their assigned region. The role focuses on engaging with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders from Strategic Definition through to Handover & Close-Out, ensuring SG brands (Gyproc, Isover, Weber, Kilwaughter, and Glass) are specified and embedded in project designs.
The role exists to secure long-term commercial growth by shaping project specifications, increasing product adoption, and developing strong stakeholder relationships that generate sustained pipeline opportunities.
Key Accountabilities
- Include building and managing a robust project pipeline, influencing architects, engineers, contractors, and other decision makers throughout the project lifecycle, and providing practical specification and construction guidance across all relevant RIAI project phases.
- The role is also responsible for supporting commercial objectives by maintaining strong project visibility, ensuring specification retention, and collaborating effectively with internal teams to deliver successful project outcomes and sustainable market growth.

- Demonstrate proven track record of delivering sales results and applying high levels of commercial acumen. They will be capable of building, managing, and converting a robust project pipeline to support sustained business growth.
Influencing & Stakeholder Management
- Influence key participants and decision makers throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. This includes effectively engaging with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to secure positive outcomes and maintain project specifications.
Strategic Thinking & Decision Making
- Ability to understand project drivers, anticipate challenges, and make informed decisions that support both customer needs and organisational goals.
Communication & Relationship Building
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The candidate must be able to build trusted, credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment across the project lifecycle.
Specific Focus will be on the phases listed below:
- Strategic Definition
- Support early project discussions to understand client objectives, site constraints, feasibility considerations, and project delivery strategy.
- Preparation and Brief
- Collaborate with design teams,planners, commercial staff,and stakeholders to ensure pre-construction needs are fully understood.
Concept Design
- Review early design concepts to identify &provide practical construction advice to ensure proposed solutions can be delivered efficiently and in line with programme, budget, and compliance needs.
Developed Design
- Work closely with designers, subcontractors, and engineering teams to refine technical details and ensure alignment with construction methodologies.
Detailed Design
- Review of fully detailed specification packs,ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant standards.
Handover & Close-Out Stage
- Address outstanding technical issues.
- Strengthen relationships with key project stakeholders to secure repeat business and future pipeline visibility.
- Document project outcomes for case studies, testimonials, and internal reporting.
- Ensure all project data and CRM entries are fully updated.
- Issue any relevant warranties
- Proven experience in specification sales, technical sales, or project-facing roles within construction or building materials.
- Strong track record of delivering commercial results and managing a project pipeline.
- Experience engaging with early-stage design teams and influencing specification outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple stakeholders in complex project environments.
- Familiarity with RIAI project stages and construction lifecycle processes is highly desirable
