Job summary

Stewart Construction, a leading Irish contractor, seeks a proactive Project Manager to join a growing team. You will lead on prestigious commercial, industrial, and educational projects across Ireland, developing and delivering from award to handover with a BIM-enabled approach.

You will work with an experienced team, ensuring safe, on-time, on-budget delivery while upholding high-quality standards and client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Construction management.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management, preferably with a Main Contractor.
  • Experience of project planning software ASTA or MS Project.
  • Experience leading diverse teams on large projects in various sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects from award through to completion, handover, and final account.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Establish project execution plans, milestones, and delivery strategies to meet contract requirements.
  • Lead the project team in achieving objectives with high professionalism and performance.
  • Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, constraints, and changes throughout the lifecycle.

Stewart Construction, a top Irish Contractor with over 120 years of excellence in the industry, is currently seeking a proactive and organised Project Manager to join our growing and supportive team.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals on prestigious commercial, industrial, and educational projects.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Take full responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects from award through to completion, handover, and final account.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Establish project execution plans, key milestones, and delivery strategies to meet client and contractual requirements.
  • Lead the project team in achieving project objectives while maintaining high standards of professionalism and performance.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, opportunities, constraints, and change throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring effective communication throughout all stages of the project.
  • Lead regular progress meetings and provide accurate reports on programme, commercial performance, quality, safety, and project risks.
  • Ensure client expectations are managed and contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project programmes covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Ensure sufficient labour, plant, materials, and subcontract resources are available to meet programme requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where necessary to maintain project milestones and completion dates.
  • Coordinate design, procurement, and construction activities to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Oversee the engineering and technical delivery of the project, ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Manage the design coordination process and ensure technical information is issued to site teams in a timely manner.
  • Lead the resolution of technical, design, and buildability issues in collaboration with clients, consultants, and project engineers.
  • Ensure robust engineering controls, inspection procedures, and quality assurance processes are implemented throughout the project.
  • Review and approve key technical submissions, method statements, temporary works proposals, and construction methodologies.
  • Maintain overall awareness of project budgets, forecasts, cost performance, and contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to manage subcontractor accounts, variations, compensation events, and change management processes.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximising project opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Ensure procurement activities are undertaken in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and company procedures.
  • Monitor quality performance through inspections, audits, and review processes.
  • Ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality records, commissioning documentation, and handover information are completed and maintained.
  • Drive a culture of right-first-time delivery and continuous improvement across the project team.
  • Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and reporting systems in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure all project information is stored within a structured and auditable filing system.
  • Monitor project performance against programme, budget, quality, and safety targets.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports to clients and senior management.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of project decisions, approvals, changes, risks, and lessons learned.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop project teams to achieve project and business objectives.
  • Provide clear direction, support, and mentorship to Project Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Participate and engage fully in company appraisal/performance review processes and constantly work to improve your individual, your team and the wider group’s performance.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and high performance throughout the project team.
  • Manage team performance in accordance with company policies and procedures and support ongoing professional development.
  • Promote and uphold the company's values, standards, and reputation in all dealings with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Construction management (further study a distinct advantage).
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management, preferably with a Main Contractor.
  • Experience of project planning software ASTA or MS Project.
  • Capable of taking responsibility for large projects with particular emphasis on strong delivery, timescales, cost and budget
  • Experience leading diverse teams in addition to taking direction.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and have previous experience working on high quality medium-large scale public and private contracts in various sectors: Pharma/Industrial/Commercial/Education/Health/Data Centers.
  • Experience in delivering large projects would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent ability to analyse and interpret contractual documents.
  • Proven excellent analytical and organisational skills, along with superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills required.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment are essential.
  • Services and Structural steel construction experience an advantage
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical topics to key stakeholders, management, and team members of both client and project team to influence decisions.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • A full driver's licence is required for this role.
