Job summary

Red Hat in Waterford is seeking an intern to join the OpenShift Sustaining Engineering team from January 2027. This paid, full-time internship provides hands-on software engineering experience, backporting, and CVE work within a newly established OpenShift lifelong offering.

You will use Go or Python, contribute to AI and automation projects, and learn engineering workflows while collaborating with the team; the program runs through August 2027 with flexible hours and strong professional

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2027.
• Working knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Practical knowledge of Go or Python; Linux experience at least on user level.
• Knowledge of software development testing and build is a plus.
• Startup mentality — new team with shifting priorities.
• Open source contribution is a plus.
• Team spirit and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Participate in backporting and other build and release activities
• Work on various CVE issues and bug fixing scenarios
• Collaborate with rest of the team on AI and Automation projects
• Contribute to new Red Hat’s strategy for OpenShift lifelong offerings
