Job summary

Red Hat seeks a Student Internship in the XE Sustaining Engineering team in Waterford, Ireland, starting January 2027. This paid, full-time internship offers hands-on experience with open source, OpenShift, and Red Hat products.

You'll learn release engineering, patch backports, test planning, automation tooling, and contribute to product quality while gaining enterprise-level exposure in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Hands-on knowledge with Python and Go programming.
• Solid debugging, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Hands-on knowledge of Linux.
• Familiar with committing code to source control such as Github/Gitlab.
• Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes or containers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn OpenShift AI product and gain enterprise experience in release engineering on Kubernetes.
• Diagnose root causes of failures.
• Contribute to backport CVEs and bug fixes to stable releases.
• Help ensure product quality, CI/CD and security responsiveness.
