Red Hat’s OpenShift Sustaining Engineering team seeks an Intern for 2027, based in Waterford. You’ll backport features, tackle CVE issues, and collaborate on AI and automation projects while learning core engineering workflows and security aspects of CVEs.

You must be enrolled in an Irish university for Jan–Aug 2027, with strong English, knowledge of Go or Python, and Linux basics. This paid, full-time internship offers flexible hours in Waterford.

The Red Hat OpenShift Sustaining Engineering team is looking for an Intern who’s interested to join our team. In this role, you will work with the newly established OpenShift Sustaining Engineering team. You will help to manage and develop the new long life OpenShift offering. As an Intern, you will (also) learn important engineering workflows and also focus on product backporting. This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to get experience in software engineering and especially in the security aspect of Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures.

This is a paid, full-time internship based in the Waterford office, with flexible working hours. The expected start date is January 2027.

What You Will Bring

• You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2027
• Working knowledge of written and spoken English
• Practical knowledge of Go or Python
• Linux experience at least on user level
• Knowledge of software development testing and build is a plus
• Startup mentality - we are a new team where priorities shift often
• Open source contribution is a plus
• Team spirit, collaborative approach
