Job summary

Depaul in Cork is seeking a dedicated Night Support Worker to help protect the safety and wellbeing of residents overnight. The role reports to the Local Management Team and involves working across service users in a 37.5 hour week on a permanent contract.

The successful candidate will have experience in homelessness work, a Level 5 QQI in social care (or higher), and a strong commitment to harm reduction and safety.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience in homelessness sector or related area in residential setting.
• Level 5 QQI qualification in social care or related area.
• Manual handling qualification desirable.
• Understanding of harm reduction and low threshold working.
• Capable of responding calmly in crisis and using initiative to address incidents.
• Understanding of Health and Safety in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to residents and respond to safety and welfare needs during night shifts.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of communal areas, assist with laundry and cleaning tasks.
• Provide night-time security and monitor building and surroundings.
• Staff reception as needed.
• Supervise residents with high care needs and provide support with medications as prescribed.
• Record and report any non-compliance or safety issues.
• Encourage residents to develop daily living skills.
• Alert management to crises and contact on-call manager out of hours.
• Assist with petty cash, project admin tasks, and record keeping.
• Ensure Health and Safety standards per policy and Safety Statement.
