Job summary

Depaul is seeking Relief Workers for Cork Services (St. Vincent's and Deerpark) to support residents in temporary roles across shifts, including nights on a 7-day rota. You will work on-site, providing practical care and ensuring a safe, respectful environment and timely handovers.

The role requires experience in homelessness or related social care, a Level 5 qualification (essential) and a good education. You will join a values-led team committed to dignity, rights, and supportive housing,

Qualifications

• Have at least 1 year’s experience working in the homelessness field or related area; Level 5 social care qualification is essential.
• Have a good standard of education; manual handling qualification desirable.
• Understand harm reduction and low threshold working.
• Understand why people become homeless and the supports required for service users with complex needs.
• Be able to respond calmly in a crisis and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide for service users' practical needs (food, laundry, clean bedding).
• Maintain a safe, secure environment and high service standards.
• Work with service users, earning trust and managing difficult situations.
• Carry out duties on specified rotas and participate in shift handovers.
• Maintain records for smooth operation and adhere to policies (Health and Safety, Confidentiality).
• Respond effectively to service user needs, including night shifts.
