Job summary

Depaul is seeking relief workers to provide support across Ireland, including West Cork at Gabriel Lodge. This on-site role offers flexible shifts, including nights, to cover a 7-day rota and ensure residents receive food, safety and a supportive environment.

Ideal candidates will have homelessness sector experience or a Level 5 social care qualification, with strong IT skills and a commitment to safety, confidentiality and Depaul’s values.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience in homelessness or related area (or Level 5+ social care qualification).
• Good education; manual handling qualification desirable.
• Understanding of harm reduction and low-threshold work.
• Knowledge of Depaul's vision, mission and values.
• Proficient IT skills including professional email use.

Responsibilities

• Ensure service users' practical needs are met (food, laundry, bedding).
• Maintain a safe, high-quality living environment.
• Engage with service users with sensitivity during crises.
• Carry out duties on designated rotas.
• Collaborate with staff to make decisions during shifts.
• Participate in shift handovers.
• Keep records for smooth service operation.
• Adhere to Health and Safety and confidentiality policies.
• Uphold Depaul's ethos in all duties.
• Respond to service user needs, especially at night.
