Job summary

Depaul Ireland is seeking a Relief Worker for Cork Services (St. Vincent’s and Deerpark). This on-site role offers night shifts on a 7-day rota, with pay at €17.49 per hour.

You will join a multi-site team delivering supported accommodation, food and shelter to residents, working with trained staff to maintain high service standards. The role requires experience in homelessness or related social care, Level 5 qualification or higher, and the ability to respond calmly in crises while upholding

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year’s experience in homelessness or related area.
• Level 5+ qualification essential.
• Manual handling qualification desirable.
• Understanding of harm reduction.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to respond calmly in a crisis.

Responsibilities

• Meet the practical needs of service users (food, laundry, bedding).
• Maintain a safe, secure environment and high standards.
• Build trust with service users and handle situations sensitively.
• Carry out duties on shift rotas.
• Collaborate with staff during handovers and decisions.
• Maintain records for smooth service operation.
• Adhere to Health and Safety, Code of Practice, and Confidentiality.
• Represent Depaul’s values professionally.
• Respond to service user needs, especially at night.
