Job summary

Killashee Hotel is seeking a kitchen apprentice or junior cook to support daily morning preparation and food production. You will assemble fresh ingredients, salads and sandwiches, following recipes and safety standards to ensure high-quality dishes for daily service.

We value reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude. This role offers a supportive team environment with opportunities for training within a respected hotel in Naas, Co. Kildare.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment preferred.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily morning kitchen prep and meal assembly.
• Prepare fresh ingredients, salads, fillings and sauces.
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene and timely service.
• Label, date and store prepared foods and rotate stock.
• Maintain clean prep areas and equipment after use.
• Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth service.
• Support Head Chef with other duties as required.

Duties

• Complete the daily morning preparation for the hotel kitchen.
• Prepare fresh ingredients, salads, sandwich fillings, sauces and other food items.
• Prepare and assemble a variety of fresh sandwiches and food-to-go products.
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards.
• Ensure all food is prepared to a consistently high standard.
• Ensure preparation is completed on time and ready for daily service.
• Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and personal presentation.
• Follow HACCP, food safety and health & safety procedures at all times.
• Correctly label, date and store all prepared food.
• Ensure stock is rotated and report any shortages or wastage.
• Maintain clean, tidy and organised preparation areas.
• Clean and correctly store kitchen equipment after use.
• Work closely with the wider kitchen team to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
• Assist with other kitchen duties as required by the Head Chef.

Key Requirements

• Previous kitchen experience preferred
• Food preparation skills
• Good knowledge of food hygiene & HACCP
• Reliable and punctual for early starts, flexibility over the week.
