Job summary

Mastercard in Sandyford, Dublin, seeks a Lead Software Engineer for the Commercial Connect API team. You will lead design, development and deployment of Java microservices, integrating with modern front-ends and third-party apps, within a collaborative Agile environment.

You’ll drive SDLC activities, code reviews, and security compliance, mentor engineers, optimize performance for high-traffic systems, and explore AI-assisted tooling to boost productivity and quality.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend development experience with Java/Spring Boot in a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Proven ability to design scalable microservices and RESTful APIs for high-traffic systems.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL/Oracle and cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern SDLC processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of Java microservices for the Commercial Connect API.
• Collaborate with product, TPMs, and QA to align technical and business goals.
• Conduct code reviews, PRs, and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure security, operations, and architecture standards are met.
• Optimize performance and reliability for large-scale, high-traffic systems.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering opportunities across the SDLC.
