Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Commercial Connect API team in Dublin. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices integrated with modern front-ends and third-party apps.

The role emphasizes SDLC excellence, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and adherence to security standards. You will work in a collaborative Agile environment with a focus on microservices, scalable databases, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).

Qualifications

• Backend engineer with Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Designing secure, scalable microservices for high traffic.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and REST APIs.
• Advanced SQL with PostgreSQL and Oracle; scalable solutions.
• Hands-on with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, tests, and Git.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity.
• Experience in Agile development environment.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices.
• Contribute to all SDLC phases: planning, coding, testing, reviews, delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs, and test engineers to align goals.
• Perform code reviews and support continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and security/compliance.
• Optimize performance and reliability for large-scale systems.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering opportunities across the SDLC.
