Job summary

Talbot Hotel Stillorgan in South Dublin is recruiting a Laundry Assistant to join our housekeeping team. You will manage washing, sorting and ironing of linen and ensure all equipment is maintained.

The role requires previous laundry experience in 4- or 5-star hotels, a good command of English, and residency in Ireland with a valid work permit. You should be available to work five days a week in a full-time arrangement.

Qualifications

• Previous laundry experience in 4* or 5* hotels.
• Good command of English.
• A valid work permit is essential.
• Must be residing in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Arrive for the shift per rota wearing the correct uniform.
• Ensure times and procedures are followed by subordinates.
• Control washing, sorting and ironing of linen and rotate stock as needed.
• Ensure equipment is in working order; report any defects.
• Ensure all laundry staff are trained.
• Count linen and towels every two weeks.
• Inform the Accommodation Manager of stock shortages.
• Participate in the company's customer programme.
• Log maintenance calls and follow up with the maintenance team.
• Minimise waste and liaise with housekeeping as needed.
• Know hotel fire regulations and report discrepancies.
• Oversee department and staff on shift.

Main Duties:

• To arrive for the shift as stated on the department rota, wearing correct uniform
• To ensure that subordinates are adhering to these times and procedures.
• To control the washing, sorting and ironing all linen and the prioritizing and rotating of linen as needed.
• Ensure that all equipment is in working order at all times, reporting any defects to maintenance.
• To ensure all laundry assistants are fully trained.
• To do a count of all linen and towels every two weeks.
• To inform the Accommodation Manager of any shortage of stock.
• You are responsible for participating in the company's customer programme
• To place maintenance calls to correct company, log the call in the diary and report to the Accommodation Manager.
• To ensure that all supplies are used correctly, minimising waste within the department.
• To liaise with housekeeping as to any needs or requests for the department.
• To be familiar with the hotel Fire regulations and procedures and report any discrepancies you may find i.e. missing extinguishers
• To take responsibility for the running of the department and staff on shift.

What is required of you:

• Previous laundry experience in 4* or 5* hotels
• Be available to work 5 days out of 7 days in full time employment
• Good command of English
• A valid work permit is essential
• Must be residing in Ireland
