Job summary

The Talbot Hotel Stillorgan is currently recruiting a Laundry Assistant to join our team. The role involves overseeing daily laundry operations in a 4* hotel setting and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

You will manage washing, ironing and linen sorting, supervise on-shift staff, and work closely with housekeeping to meet linen requirements. A valid work permit and residency in Ireland are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in 4*- or 5*-hotel laundry operations.
• Strong communication skills and good English ability.
• Willingness to work full-time (5 days out of 7).
• Valid work permit and residency in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Arrive for shift as per rota and wear correct uniform.
• Control washing, sorting and ironing of linen; rotate linen as needed.
• Ensure laundry equipment is functioning; report defects.
• Train laundry staff on procedures.
• Biweekly count of linen and towels.
• Liaise with housekeeping and Accommodation Manager for needs.
• Minimise waste; manage supplies and stock levels.
• Participate in the company's customer programme.
• Log maintenance calls and brief Accommodation Manager.
• Ensure compliance with fire regulations and safety.

Main Duties

• To arrive for the shift as stated on the department rota, wearing correct uniform.
• To ensure that subordinates are adhering to these times and procedures.
• To control the washing, sorting and ironing all linen and the prioritizing and rotating of linen as needed.
• Ensure that all equipment is in working order at all times, reporting any defects to maintenance.
• To ensure all laundry assistants are fully trained.
• To do a count of all linen and towels every two weeks.
• To inform the Accommodation Manager of any shortage of stock.
• You are responsible for participating in the company's customer programme
• To place maintenance calls to correct company, log the call in the diary and report to the Accommodation Manager.
• To ensure that all supplies are used correctly, minimising waste within the department.
• To liaise with housekeeping as to any needs or requests for the department.
• To be familiar with the hotel Fire regulations and procedures and report any discrepancies you may find i.e. missing extinguishers.
• To take responsibility for the running of the department and staff on shift.

What is required of you

• Previous laundry experience in 4* or 5* hotels
• Good communication skills
• Be available to work 5 days out of 7 days in full time employment
• Good command of English
• A valid work permit is essential
• Must be residing in Ireland
