About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Microsoft Teams Support Engineer / Administrator to provide Level 2 technical support and administration across a Microsoft Teams environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ICT support professional with a strong interest in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 to work across incident management, technical troubleshooting, platform administration, service improvement, security and governance.
The successful candidate will take ownership of technical issues through to resolution, provide effective support to end users and collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to maintain a stable, secure and reliable collaboration platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve customer technical issues.
- Provide effective Level 2 support for Microsoft Teams users and administrators.
- Manage incidents and service requests through a service desk environment.
- Own support tickets through to resolution and ensure appropriate SLA adherence.
- Monitor and manage ticket queues.
- Troubleshoot Teams calling, meetings, chat and related collaboration issues.
- Escalate complex technical issues to Level 3 support or Microsoft when required.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to problem management activities.
- Administer Microsoft Teams, including teams, channels, chats, apps, memberships and settings.
- Configure and manage Teams policies and settings.
- Support Teams client and server configuration, hardware and associated services.
- Manage accounts and service queues.
- Maintain platform stability, availability and performance.
- Assist with service enhancements and performance improvements.
- Support patching, updates and security activities to mitigate service risks.
- Assist with capacity management and future scalability planning.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, records and knowledge articles.
- Contribute to problem and change management processes.
- Support testing and the introduction of new products, features and service changes.
- Ensure appropriate security, compliance and governance across the Teams environment.
- Provide coaching, knowledge sharing and documentation to colleagues and technical teams.
- Provide training and support to Teams users and administrators.
- Collaborate with other administrators and stakeholders on technical and governance requirements.
- Undertake additional technical support activities as required.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Level 2 ICT Helpdesk / IT Support role, with a focus on Microsoft Teams administration.
- Practical experience supporting and administering Microsoft Teams.
- Experience managing incidents and service requests within an IT support environment.
- Demonstrable experience troubleshooting user issues through to resolution.
- Experience with escalation procedures and working with higher-level technical support teams.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must hold:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate, or equivalent; and
- A Level 6 or higher qualification in Computing under the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), or previous experience in an ICT Helpdesk Support role combined with relevant industry-recognised qualifications such as CompTIA A+ or ITIL v4.
Microsoft 365 Knowledge
Candidates should have working knowledge of core Microsoft 365 services, including:
- Microsoft Teams
- Exchange Online
- Microsoft 365 Admin Centre
End-User Support
- Strong Level 2 IT support experience, including incident and service request management, structured troubleshooting and appropriate escalation.
Microsoft Teams Administration
- Practical experience administering Microsoft Teams, including users, teams, channels, policies, meetings, chat, applications and basic technical troubleshooting.
Problem Solving
- A logical and methodical approach to diagnosing technical problems, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate resolutions.
Communication
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
Documentation
- Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation, knowledge articles, procedures and service records.
Service Management
- Understanding of SLA-driven support environments, ticket ownership, queue management, problem management and change management.
Security & Governance
- Awareness of security, compliance, patching, updates and governance requirements within Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 environments.
Language Requirement
- Full professional proficiency in English.
