Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is seeking an experienced IT Support / Retail Systems Engineer to maintain EPOS/POS systems and other retail technologies across multiple locations in Ireland. The role focuses on rapid troubleshooting, hardware and software support, and ensuring high availability in a busy retail setting.

You will engage with payment terminals, PCI environments, and various retail IT infrastructure while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Experience with EFTPOS/EPOS systems and POS environments.
• Exposure to payment platforms and PCI-related contexts is beneficial.
• Experience in high-availability retail IT environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain EPOS/POS systems, payment devices and wider retail technology.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking and system-related incidents.
• Provide technical support across multiple stores and business locations.
• Act as escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Ensure business-critical systems remain highly available, especially during peak times.
• Assist with system upgrades, technology rollouts and endpoint deployments.
• Support new store, site and business-unit technology implementations.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal IT teams.
• Manage incidents and service requests per SLAs.
• Maintain technical documentation and support procedures.
• Deliver high-quality technical support to users across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced IT team responsible for supporting business-critical retail systems across multiple locations. You will work with a broad range of technologies including EPOS/POS systems, payment terminals, hardware, software, networking and wider retail infrastructure.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced IT Support / Retail Systems Engineer with a strong background supporting technology within retail, hospitality or another high-availability environment. This would suit someone who enjoys a hands-on technical role and wants exposure to a broad range of retail technologies while progressing within an established IT team.

Ideally, you will have experience with:

• EPOS / Point of Sale (POS) systems
• Payment terminals and payment technologies
• Retail IT systems and infrastructure
• Hardware and software troubleshooting
• Basic network troubleshooting
• Endpoint deployment and management
• Incident and problem management
• Working within SLA-driven environments
• Supporting business-critical systems

Experience within a large retail environment would be particularly beneficial.
