MCS Group | Your Specialist Recruitment Consultancy partners with a growing MSP in Dublin to appoint an IT Systems Engineer. This hands-on, client-facing role blends infrastructure administration, cloud engineering, networking and cybersecurity.

You’ll deliver projects such as cloud migrations, server deployments and network upgrades, while enhancing security, resilience and performance. Hybrid in Dublin with client-site visits.

Qualifications

• Three years' hands-on IT experience in an MSP or multi-client environment.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing and wireless.
• Hands-on with SonicWall firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience deploying and managing Ubiquiti UniFi equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site technical support across client environments, managing incidents and service requests to resolution.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server and Windows 10/11 endpoints.
• Install, configure and maintain physical/virtual servers, storage, OSs and network connectivity.
• Implement Azure infrastructure and support migrations to Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Configure and manage firewall security policies and VPNs (SonicWall).
• Deploy and manage UniFi switches, APs and gateways across diverse sites.
• Configure networks (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching, wireless).
• Deploy Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery and testing plans.
• Document changes and identify automation opportunities with PowerShell.
• Provide clear technical guidance to clients and suggest improvements.

I'm working with a growing Managed Service Provider in Dublin that is expanding its client portfolio and looking to appoint an IT Systems Engineer.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role combining advanced technical support with infrastructure administration, cloud engineering, networking and cybersecurity.

You'll work across a varied range of client environments, delivering projects such as cloud migrations, server deployments and network upgrades, while helping improve system security, resilience and performance.

Hybrid - South Dublin, with travel to client sites as required.

The Role

As an IT Systems Engineer, you'll support, maintain and improve client IT environments. You'll provide advanced technical support and work on infrastructure, cloud, network and security projects.

You'll work directly with clients, take ownership of issues through to resolution and collaborate with the CTO and wider technical team to deliver changes and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site technical support across client environments, managing incidents and service requests through to resolution.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server and Windows 10/11 environments.
• Install, configure and maintain physical and virtual servers, including operating systems, storage and network connectivity.
• Implement Azure infrastructure and support migrations from on-premises environments to Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Install and administer SonicWall firewalls, including security policies and site-to-site and client-to-site VPNs.
• Install and manage Ubiquiti UniFi switches, wireless access points, gateways and network management systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot networks, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching and wireless connectivity.
• Deploy and maintain Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365.
• Implement and monitor backup and disaster recovery solutions, including recovery testing.
• Deliver infrastructure, network and security projects, maintain technical documentation and identify opportunities to automate tasks using PowerShell.
• Provide clear technical advice to clients and recommend improvements based on their business needs.

Essential Experience and Skills

• At least three years' hands-on IT experience in an MSP or similar multi-client environment.
• Practical experience administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure and Windows Server.
• Experience supporting Windows 10/11 endpoints and resolving desktop, application and connectivity issues.
• Strong knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching and wireless networking.
• Hands-on experience configuring SonicWall firewalls and VPN technologies.
• Experience installing, configuring and managing Ubiquiti UniFi network equipment.
• Experience installing, configuring and maintaining physical or virtual servers.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365.
• Experience supporting cloud migrations, infrastructure deployments or network implementation projects.
• Working knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Strong troubleshooting, organisation and client communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and communicate technical matters clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Full, clean Category B driving licence and access to a car for client-site visits.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• EU citizenship or Stamp 4. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• SonicWall Network Security Administrator or equivalent certification.
• ITIL 4 Foundation.
• Ubiquiti UniFi networking training or certification.
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Experience implementing backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance standards and audit preparation.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, IT, Networking or a related discipline.

Relevant hands-on experience and demonstrable technical ability will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
