Job summary

WSP in Ireland's Energy Networks team is seeking a Cable Systems Engineer to design and deliver HV and HVDC cable systems across transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects. Based from our Ireland offices, you will join a growing team that combines local knowledge with WSP's international expertise.

You will work on landmark projects, develop our cable engineering capability in the region, and benefit from structured professional development and hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop HV and EHV cable systems for power transmission and distribution projects, including cable selection, accessories, installation methods, and system architecture.
• Undertake cable system studies and technical assessments including cable ratings, thermal analyses and performance evaluation using tools.
• Produce high-quality engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation to support project delivery.
• Support development of HVAC and HVDC cable solutions for onshore, offshore and interconnector projects.
• Conduct route, site and installation assessments, identifying technical, environmental and constructability considerations.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, client specifications, safety requirements and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, manufacturers, contractors and clients to deliver cable system projects
