Job summary

WSP seeks a Cable Systems Engineer to deliver HVAC and HVDC cable designs across transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects in Ireland. You will join a growing team blending local knowledge with WSP's global energy expertise, delivering complex cable solutions for critical infrastructure.

Work from our Irish offices with hybrid arrangements, contributing to design studies, technical assessments and validation, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet stakeholder

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related field.
• Proven HV/high-voltage cable design, specification, testing and implementation.
• Knowledge of cable systems, ampacity, rating studies and thermal analyses.
• Experience with HVDC schemes is a plus.
• Experience supporting large transmission projects and offshore wind connections.
• Familiarity with IEC, CIGRE guidance and related specs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop HV and EHV cable systems for power transmission and distribution.
• Perform cable studies, thermal analyses and ratings using CYMCAP.
• Produce high-quality engineering deliverables, calculations and specs.
• Support HVAC and HVDC solutions for onshore/offshore/interconnector projects.
• Conduct route, site and installation assessments with key considerations.
• Ensure designs meet standards, safety and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, manufacturers and clients.
• Review design changes and provide technical support through manufacturing and commissioning.
