WSP is expanding its Energy business in Ireland and seeks a HV Cable Design Engineer based in Dublin, Naas or Belfast. You will lead HV/MV cable system design from concept to detailed design, coordinating with civil, protection and control teams to ensure safe, compliant, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Power.
• Extensive design, manufacture and test experience for HV cables (onshore/offshore; HVAC/HVDC).
• Familiarity with IEC cable standards and CIGRE policies and specs.
• Knowledge of EirGrid and ESB standards for HV/MV cables.
• Willingness to travel as projects dictate.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV/MV cable system design from concept to FEED and detailed design, including specs and evaluations.
• Provide technical authority across cable system engineering and multidisciplinary integration.
• Review owner’s engineer/deliverables for compliance with standards and contracts.
• Prepare and review equipment and cable route specifications, tender docs, and progress reports.
• Perform cable sizing, thermal, EMF/TMF, and sheath bonding studies; ensure timely design deliverables.
