Job summary

WSP's Energy team in Ireland is looking to recruit a HV Cable Design Engineer to join the Dublin, Naas or Belfast office. You will lead development and assurance of HV/MV cable system designs from concept through FEED and detailed design.

You will act as a technical authority, support multidisciplinary integration, and ensure designs meet standards and client requirements while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/power engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive HV cable design, manufacture and test experience for HVAC/HVDC.
• Knowledge of IEC standards and CIGRE/IEEE policies.
• Willingness to travel and knowledge of ESB/EirGrid standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV/MV cable system design from concept through FEED and detailed design.
• Provide technical authority across cable system engineering and multidisciplinary integration.
• Review developer/supplier/contractor deliverables for compliance with standards and legislation.
• Prepare and review equipment and cable route specifications and tender docs.
• Perform calculations for cable sizing, thermal performance, EMF/TMF, and sheath bonding studies.
• Coordinate designs across interfaces and ensure timely delivery to programme.
